Went Back to Sc again after so many years...cant remember when was the last time i went back...probably a year or two ago...Went back with a tinge of sadness this time, it was a suprise farewell party for Miss Heng, our beloved principal. Having been an SC gal for 10 years, I have always been very proud of who I am and that I came from a school with a rich culture and reputation that is known to produce gals of high calibre. Although i am not one those with high calibre but at least I am confident to say that I am reasonably groomed and at least not a disgrace to SC. SC gals love their school and love Miss Heng. She has been a prinicipal for more than 20 years, for both my sis and I. She has always been an icon of SC, reminding us to be Kim geks, giving us a day off when the O'Levels batch had 100% passess, encouraging students or even reprimending them in harsh tone but her intentions were never bad...she wanted SC gals to be well groomed, educated, and most importantly held the values of, service, courage, generousity, and sincerity right from the age of 7. Her most admirable aspect to me is her humbleness and how she like to keep things as low profile as possible. I recalled an incident where the newspaper reported that we had 99% passes only, but she never bothered to explain to the media that a 1% was due to a gal who took her oral/listening paper and migrated to another country without completing her O'Levels so it was considered a fail. But we still had a day off as to her and the school, it was 100% passes and of course it was a call for celebration. She never like publicity, never like to show off how good her gals are, although she thinks they are the best. heez. We will miss her. Every SC gal will miss her and respect her for all the effort and time she spent in SC, reminding us to uphold values specifically from its culture. SC will never be the same without her... but just like the song goes " I was the hero with all the glories, and you were the wind beneath my wings".
Happy Retirement Miss Heng,
Though SC will never be the same again,
SC gals will always uphold the values you passed on.
The SC spirit will never die,
We love you, Miss Heng.
Think Michelle did a better job with the photos and the school songs..
