Attended the International Symposium by Chinese Organic Chemistry (ISCOC) at the Grand Copthorne, Waterfront Hotel. Was totally inspired by the talks and how smart these chemists are. There was one especially impressive chemist, Mimi Hii, a professor from Imperial College. Think she is only in her 20s but her works are already more than impressive for a young researcher. She is not like some nerdy lady but instead, she is slim, pretty, elegant and have this aura of intelligence in her..ha..can you describe a person in that way? sounds funny but she is indeed stunning..The 3 days conference ended with a banquet..the whole affair was rather glam with presentation of awards to chemists of extraodinary good work...heez and the food was great too! And of cos, how can a event like this not have photos? Have some uploaded below..

Glad I attended this symposium, if not, I would not have thought about some things which could have affected my life...I like what I am doing though I might not be good at it but at least I like it, isnt it?

Latest Updates:

1. Doing an internship at S*bio now..Great experience so far..with my own fumehood that is thrice as big as the one I have in school, my own rotary evaporator, my own table in the office and my own computer! Man! ITS SO COOL! haha...mayb cos i was too deprive of these in sch..afterall how good can sch facilities be as compared to a commercial company and the lab is air conditioned! heez.. Well but did learned many new techniques so far with advices from scientists and research assistants, hope the experience now will serve me good in the near future. However, the good environment is slowly tempting me to give up post grad studies for work..but yet i dun wanna disappoint my professor who has given me so much opportunities to learn and expose myself to techniques, new chemistry and most importantly he has very much inspire me to go on to post grad. Since young, doing post grad has never occurred to me until he (Dr. Tan C.H) comes along telling me that I had the potential and encouraged me to go on. But note that he doesn't just tell that to me, in fact he encourages all the honours students to go on. But to me, the impact he has made on my and my life has deeply touched my heart and I would work hard for him :) He's a great prof who buys dinner for his students when he realise that they haven eaten at 8pm, he tells his students not to be stress and welfare his lab with parties and encouragement. A great prof!

2. Had a sumptuous meal at Kushinbo with joanna, clarice and shirley! The picture of the spread of food is kindly taken from joanna's blog..heez...man did we eat a lot within an hour!

Being cheapo, we went for the last hour meal at 9pm which only costs 22+++ as compared to 35++ i think..but the food is good! Love the sashimi! But these kind of restaurants can only be visited once in a blue blue moon since the food will be about the same...After ending up with a bloated tummy, we went for a crazy late night shopping at the Mango sale!! heez bought 2 very satisfying tops! haven had such a fufilling shopping for a long long time!

I haven been to Vivo city!! I wanna go there to shop!!

3. Went to watch "the holiday" with dd..it'a great show! heartwarming and makes you feel that love is in the air! Funny as well with Cameron Diaz trying on a role that she seldom attempts..and kate winslet have gone thinner but looks a bit old standing next to all pretty Cameron.. but nevertheless it's a great story, not as good as Love Actually but still nice. :)

Once again exams are over.. and only then do i have time to start blogging again. Didnt had alot of fun but at least finally took a break from studies and lab..Ended my exams on Sat and had the following activities:

Sun: Went shopping with mum and sis for clothes for a wedding dinner. It has been a long time since the three of us went out shopping together. Sometimes I really feel bad that I have been busy that I hardly have time for my mum. I can imagine how lonely my mum can get when everybody is out busy with work and pah-toing..Furthermore, dad is often busy with work as well. Just hope that she will stay happy and I will try to keep her company as much as possible.

Mon: Turtle came to my house and we had a nice comforfy time slacking at my house...just merging with the coach can be quite relaxing after a tough period of stress..the day ended with a nice home cooked dinner :)

Tues: Went to sing!! lalala!! heez..all the latest songs are out in k box..except for one song that i wanted to learn..will try to find the mtv in youtube..

Wed: Went back to lab...started one experiment despite telling myself tht i shouldnt start before entering the lab. But the honours students of other labs are too pia.... They came back straight after exams! And I rested for 3 days...Sometimes peer pressure can be just too much to take.

Thur: Lab...But had a nice meet up with Pauline and gals..It was great to meet up after such a long time. Though pauline and I are from nus but we didnt see each other for one whole sem!! If I was not staying in PGP, guess would not have seen jocelyn as well...That is how much academic can pull us apart.

Fri: Diarrhea!! Had a bad tummy ache when I woke up and rushed into the toilet with...*ahem* ( shall spare you guys the details). Then did i realised a few days later that Grace and peixia had diarrhea too! Think it must be the food! and you know what we ate? Billy Bombers at Bugis!
But being the greedy me..despite having a bad diarrhea, I still went with my mum to have lunch buffet at Intercontinental hotel. Ha..bet you must think I am mad..After eating, as usual went to the toilet again and a whole gush of things came out...eeks..grouse..but surprisingly that was the last diarrhea i had despite eating sooooo much... Went to visit my grandma too...she is lonely... I can tell...Just hope that I can get my license soon and drive her out for her fav mac ice cream and fries!

Also attended a bday party of friend of mine, Wanwei. She is totally devoted to her religion, buddhism, and a very peaceful-looking gal..Know it is weird to describe a person like that but shes really all friendly and amciable..like a gal who bu4 shi2 yan1 huo3..haha..and one thing unqiue about her party is that the buffet was vegetarian. Though i didnt eat anything due to the undigested buffet earlier but was tempted by the smell and looks of the food..it completely doesnt look as dull as i had expected. In fact, it looks even more delicious! The part ended off with candle lighting which reminds me of the movie "pass it on"...sad but meaningful movie.

Shall not bore you with the rest of my life...cos it's just plain Jane's life...some photos to show that I 'm not that plain...heez

All dressed up for the wedding dinner
